Swami Kriyananda — As We Have Known Him: Truth vs. Fantasy

A woman was betrayed by her closest friend. “I don’t want to blame him or live in the past,” she said to Swamiji. “I have to adjust to reality as it is now. So when I think of what happened, I tell myself, ‘It was just fine. It had to be that way.’”

“No,” Swamiji said. “It was not fine. It was very wrong and he should not have done it. You need to adjust to reality. Instead, what you’re doing is retreat into a fantasy world. To overcome means to face the truth, not run away from it; to see the situation for what it is. Next raise your energy level and consciousness to the point where his behavior can no longer affect how you feel.”
